2013 ChaYuLin Tian Jian Hei Cha - 2 oz
This delightful, elevating "dark tea" (hei cha) is made by a small specialty producer from Spring harvest tea leaves in An Hua, Hunan, China. Tian Jian - or Heavenly Tips - is the highest grade "dark" or post-fermented tea made in Hunan. After light fermentation (wo dui), the leaves and dried over a low pine wood fire and aged in baskets. The leaf is dark brown and irregular in appearance with up to 8% of stems that add sweetness to the finished tea.
On first rinse, aroma of cut plums and figs, with hint of smoke rises from the pot. This tea brews up a beautiful thick, golden amber soup with harmonious notes of dried plums, honeysuckle flower, peat, oak and rock sugar sweetness that lingers on the palate. Very charming and comforting to drink - I love it!
Brew with boiling water.
